Doulos Phos The Ship Hotel: A Boutique Legacy

Doulos Phos The Ship Hotel Banner

Doulos Phos The Ship Hotel, better known as the Grand Old Lady of the Seas, rests on her own purpose-built island right beside the Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal in Lagoi, Bintan.

She first set sail back in 1914 and went on to retire as the world’s oldest active ocean-going passenger ship, a title recognised by Guinness World Records.

That means options that fit both a quiet weekend escape and a history-lover’s bucket-list stay.

With over a century of history behind her, the ship has been carefully converted into a hotel with 104 cabins, offering both on-land and on-board amenities, including her very own maritime museum.

Room categories range from cozy 20-25 sqm Deluxe Small cabins to the sprawling 100+ sqm Master Mariner suite, with Family Suites and Balcony Suites in between for guests wanting a bit more space and a sea view.

Guests can spend their days at the infinity pool overlooking the South China Sea, known among past visitors as one of the best sunset spots on the island.

There’s also a heritage tour of the ship offered twice daily, taking guests through the original engine room and the story behind her transformation from ocean liner to hotel.
