Below is a simple guide to help you understand who gets free visa entry and who needs to pay for a Visa on Arrival when visiting Bintan.

If you hold a passport from certain countries, you can enter Indonesia (including Bintan) without paying for a visa.

This visa-free entry lets you stay for up to 30 days for tourism purposes.

Important to know:

Special Free Visa for Singapore PRs

Special Free Visa for Singapore PRs

If you are a Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) holding a Blue NRIC,

you’re eligible for a special free visa entry when visiting Bintan.

This makes it even easier for Singapore residents to enjoy a short island getaway.

Who is eligible:

  • Singapore PRs (Blue NRIC holders)

  • Spouses and children of Singapore PRs who hold a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP)

To use this privilege:

  • You must travel together with the PR

  • Bring documents showing your family relationship,  such as a marriage or birth certificate

When you arrive:

  • You’ll receive a Visitor Stay Permit stamped at immigration

  • Valid for up to 4 days

  • Valid when you arrive at Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal (BBT) or Sri Bintan Pura Ferry Terminal (Tanjungpinang).

This policy takes effect from 31 January 2025.

Tip :  Always bring your Blue NRIC.

Without it, you’ll need to apply and pay for a regular Visa on Arrival (VOA).

7-Day Visa on Arrival for Riau Islands

This new 7-day Visa on Arrival (VOA) is perfect for quick holidays or short business visits to Bintan and other parts of the Riau Islands.

Details:

  • Fee: Rp 250,000 per person

  • Additional charge: Bank processing fee of Rp 3,000

  • Validity: 7 days

  • Purpose: Tourism or short business visit

  • Payment: Made directly at Ferry Terminal upon arrival

Tip: Bring cash in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) to make the payment faster and smoother at the terminal.

Paid Visa on Arrival (VOA) — For Other Nationalities

Paid Visa on Arrival (VOA) — For Other Nationalities

If your country is not eligible for free entry, you can still visit Indonesia by getting a Paid Visa on Arrival (VOA).

The process is simple and can be done upon arrival in Bintan.

Requirements:

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months

  • A return or onward ticket

  • VOA fee: Rp 500,000 

Validity:

  • Stay up to 30 days

  • Can be extended once for another 30 days (Extension fee: Rp 500,000)

You can apply and pay online before your trip through the Indonesia Immigration e-Visa Portal, using your credit or debit card.

Alternatively, you can also pay in cash (IDR) at the ferry terminal when you arrive to get your Visa on Arrival directly.
