How to Get to Bintan from Singapore: Ferry & Transfer Guide
The easiest way to get from Singapore to Bintan is by ferry.
Regular ferries depart from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in Singapore and arrive at either Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT) Ferry Terminal or Tanjungpinang Ferry Terminal.
Which ferry you should take mainly depends on where you are staying in Bintan.
BBT is located in the Bintan Resorts area, while Tanjungpinang is in the south of Bintan Island.

How to Travel from Singapore to Bintan by Ferry
All regular ferries from Singapore to Bintan depart from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in Singapore.
Start Your Journey at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal
Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal is about 15–20 minutes by car from Changi Airport, depending on traffic.
You can reach the terminal by taxi, ride-hailing service, or the shuttle service from Changi Airport.
The terminal serves international ferry routes to several destinations, including Bintan and Batam.
Arrive at least 90 minutes before your ferry departure.
This gives you enough time to collect your boarding pass at the ferry operator’s counter, check in your luggage if required, clear immigration, and proceed to the boarding area.
Tanah Merah to Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT)
The first route from Singapore to Bintan is the ferry from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT) Ferry Terminal.
The ferry takes around 70 minutes.
This route is operated by Bintan Resort Ferries (BRF) with regular ferry services between Singapore and Bintan.
BBT Ferry Terminal is located in the Bintan Resorts area.
It is a convenient arrival point for travelers staying at resorts and hotels around Bintan Resorts (you will find the hotel list below).

There are regular ferries from Singapore to BBT every day. The available departure times depend on your travel date.

The ferry times above are shown in Singapore time. Bintan is one hour behind Singapore time.
For example, a ferry leaving Singapore at 08:10, arrives in Bintan at around 08:20 Bintan time.
Ferry schedules can change, and additional sailings may be added during peak season or periods of high demand.
If you see an additional sailing in the schedule, it usually means an extra service has been added for that period.
It is best to book your ferry ticket early. Popular departure times can sell out, especially during peak season or busy periods.

Ferry Ticket Prices
A return ferry ticket from Singapore to Bintan generally costs around:

Ticket prices vary depending on your travel date, weekday or weekend, peak travel period, and ticket class.

From Bandar Bentan Telan Ferry Terminal to Your Hotel
After arriving at BBT Ferry Terminal and completing the arrival and immigration procedures, you have several ways to continue to your hotel.
Hotel Shuttle Services
If you are staying at a hotel or resort in the Bintan Resorts area, many properties provide shuttle services from BBT Ferry Terminal.
Hotel staff are generally available at the arrival hall around scheduled ferry arrival times to assist their guests with the transfer to the resort.

For The Residence Bintan, the resort is located in East Bintan and provides a shuttle service for guests.
However, you will need to contact the resort in advance to arrange the shuttle.
Private Transfer Services
If your hotel is located in East Bintan or the Trikora area, check with your hotel in advance to see whether it provides a transfer service from BBT Ferry Terminal.
Alternatively, Bintan Travel Guide (BTG) can arrange a private transfer services from BBT Ferry Terminal to hotels in East Bintan or Trikora area.
This can be arranged in advance so your transportation from the ferry terminal to your hotel is already organised before you arrive in Bintan.
This means you do not need to arrange a transfer at the last minute after arriving at the ferry terminal.

Tanah Merah to Tanjungpinang
The second route from Singapore to Bintan is the ferry from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal to Tanjungpinang Ferry Terminal.
The ferry takes around 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the ferry operator.
Tanjungpinang is the main city of Bintan Island and is located in the southern part of Bintan.
There are currently two ferry operators serving this route: Sindo Ferry and Majestic Fast Ferry.
Ferry Schedule
Both Sindo Ferry and Majestic Fast Ferry operate two ferry services per day between Singapore and Tanjungpinang.

Ferry Ticket Prices
For this route, Sindo Ferry and Majestic Fast Ferry charge fare per passenger.
The ticket price is not separated into adult and child fares in the same way as Bintan Resort Ferries.
Current return ticket prices are:

From Tanjungpinang Ferry Terminal to Your Hotel in Bintan
After arriving at Tanjungpinang Ferry Terminal, you will need a land transfer to continue to your hotel.
If you are staying at The Residence Bintan, you can contact the resort in advance to arrange its shuttle service from Tanjungpinang Ferry Terminal.
The shuttle needs to be booked in advance.
For travelers staying in the Bintan Resorts area, you will also need to arrange a land transfer from Tanjungpinang Ferry Terminal to your hotel.
Hotels in the Bintan Resorts area generally do not provide a shuttle service from Tanjungpinang Ferry Terminal, so it is best to check with your hotel before arrival if they can arrange a transfer.
Another option is to arrange a private transfer with Bintan Travel Guide (BTG).

Which Route to Choose
Choose the Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT) route if your hotel is in the Bintan Resorts area or East Bintan.
Choose the Tanjungpinang route if your hotel is in Tanjungpinang or in East Bintan, including The Residence Bintan, Bintan Pearl Beach Resort, and Bintan Agro Resort.
Choose the Tanjungpinang route as an alternative when Bintan Resort Ferries from Tanah Merah to BBT are fully booked.
When guests request a hotel package with Bintan Travel Guide (BTG), we check the ferry schedule based on their hotel and travel dates.
If ferries to BBT are not available, we can recommend the Tanjungpinang route as an alternative.
The same applies to the return journey to Singapore. If Bintan Resort Ferries from Bintan to Singapore are fully booked, we can arrange the return ferry from Tanjungpinang Ferry Terminal instead.

Bintan Entry Requirements
Travelers arriving in Bintan from Singapore must meet Indonesia’s entry requirements.
Check your passport, visa requirements, and arrival documents before your ferry departure.
Passport Validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of your arrival in Indonesia.
If your passport does not meet this requirement, you may not be allowed to enter Bintan.
Visa Requirements
Visa requirements depend on your passport nationality and purpose of travel.
Some travelers can enter Indonesia visa-free for tourism for up to 30 days, while others need a visa before or upon arrival.
