Later, the same area becomes much quieter as the focus shifts to fireflies appearing around the riverbank.

Exploring the Sebung River by Boat
The mangrove experience starts with a boat journey through the waterways around the Sebung River. Rather than walking through the forest, visitors explore the mangrove environment from the water.

The mangrove portion is arranged during daylight, while the fireflies portion needs to take place after sunset.
The two therefore naturally form a sequence rather than happening at the same time.
The mangrove boat ride takes approximately 60 minutes, followed by a break before the evening fireflies experience, which usually lasts around 45 minutes.
Travel time between the hotel and the river should also be considered when planning the rest of the day.
Is It Suitable for Families and Couples?
The combined experience is generally suitable for families, couples and small groups looking for a nature-focused activity in Bintan.
There is no trekking or demanding physical activity involved. Most of the experience is spent sitting on a boat and observing the river surroundings.
Families with children may find the contrast between the two parts particularly interesting: the daylight cruise offers more to observe around the river, while the evening trip introduces a quieter experience centred on fireflies.
As with any activity involving wildlife, expectations should remain flexible. Animals may not appear during the mangrove trip, and the number of fireflies can differ from one evening to another.
