Bintan Entry Requirements
Before traveling to Bintan or anywhere in Indonesia, check these essentials:
- Valid Passport : Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.
- Return or Onward Ticket: Immigration officers may ask for proof that you’ll leave Indonesia, for example, a return ferry or onward flight ticket

Free Visa on Arrival ( VOA )
Citizens of several countries can enter Indonesia without paying a visa fee for up to 30 days.
Eligible countries include:
- Brunei Darussalam
- Malaysia
- Thailand
- Vietnam
- Philippines
- Cambodia
- Singapore
- Myanmar
- Laos
- Timor Leste
- Suriname
- Colombia
- Hong Kong
- Turkey
- Brazil
- Peru.
Important to know:
Only valid for tourism (no work or business)
Stay up to 30 days only
Cannot be extended
Special Free Visa for Singapore Permanent Residents (PR)
Good news for Singapore residents.
If you’re a Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) with a Blue NRIC, you can now enter Bintan Island without paying for a visa.
It’s a convenient option for a quick and easy island getaway.
Who can enjoy this free visa:
Singapore PRs (Blue NRIC holders)
Spouses and children of Singapore PRs who hold a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP)
How to use this privilege:
You must travel together with the PR holder
Bring proof of your family relationship, such as a marriage certificate or birth certificate
When you arrive in Bintan:
Immigration will stamp a Visitor Stay Permit in your passport
Valid for up to 4 days
Effective Date: Starting 31 January 2025
Tip: Don’t forget to carry your Blue NRIC.
If you can’t show it, you’ll need to apply and pay for a regular Visa on Arrival (VOA) instead.
New: 7-Day VOA for Riau Islands (Including Bintan)
This new 7-Day Visa on Arrival (VOA) is a convenient option for quick holidays or short business trips to Bintan and other islands in the Riau Islands region.
Here’s what you need to know:
Visa fee: Rp 250,000 per person
Bank processing fee: Rp 3,000
Validity: 7 days
Purpose: Tourism or short business visits
Payment: Pay directly at Ferry Teermianal when you arrive ( CASH IDR )
Travel Tip: Bring cash in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) to make your payment faster and avoid delays at the ferry terminal
Paid Visa on Arrival (VOA)
If your nationality isn’t eligible for free entry, don’t worry, you can still visit Indonesia by getting a Paid Visa on Arrival (VOA).
Requirements:
Passport valid for at least 6 months
A return or onward ticket
VOA fee: Rp 500,000 (payment accepted by Visa, MasterCard, or JCB upon apply online)
Validity:
Stay up to 30 days
Can be extended once for another 30 days (extension fee: Rp 500,000)
You can apply and pay online before your trip via the official Indonesia Immigration e-Visa Portal using your credit or debit card.
Alternatively, you can pay in cash (IDR) at the ferry terminal or airport when you arrive to get your Visa on Arrival directly.

All Indonesia e-Arrival Digital Card
From October 1, 2025, all travelers to Bintan are required to have the All Indonesia e-Arrival Digital Card.
This digital card is designed to simplify travel, speed up arrivals, and reduce immigration queues.
Note that it is not a visa.
How It Works
Travelers complete personal, travel, immigration, customs, and health information online in a single step.
Requirements
- Complete the form within 72 hours before arriving at the International Ferry Terminal.
- Free of charge.
Accessible via the official website or the ‘All Indonesia’ app (App Store & Google Play). - Takes about 2.5 minutes to complete.
After submission, you’ll receive a QR code via email, which must be presented at immigration and customs checkpoints upon arrival
