Ferry Bintan Island: Routes, Schedule & Prices (2026)
The ferry to Bintan Island departs from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in Singapore.
Bintan Resort Ferries (BRF) runs the direct route to Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT) in the Bintan Resorts area, taking about 70 minutes, with round-trip fares generally starting from around SGD 100–159 per adult.
Majestic Fast Ferry and Sindo Ferry serve the alternative route to Tanjung Pinang in the south, taking roughly 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours.
Round-trip fares start from SGD 98 per person, with daily schedules available.
Bintan Island sits just across the water from Singapore, and for most travellers, a ferry is the only way to get there.
There’s no bridge and no scheduled flight from Singapore, the crossing is entirely by sea.
That makes the ferry itself one of the first real decisions in planning a Bintan trip: which operator, which terminal, which class, and when to book.
We run guests through this crossing every week from our base on Bintan,
so this guide sticks to what actually matters when you’re booking: the operators, the real schedule, the real cost, and what to expect on both sides of the water.
Ferry Operators Serving Bintan Island from Singapore
There are two main ferry routes between Singapore and Bintan Island, operated by different ferry companies and arriving at different ports.
Choosing the right route is important, especially because arriving at the wrong terminal could add up to 90 minutes of additional travel time by car.
1. Bintan Resort Ferries (BRF): Direct Ferry to Bintan Resorts ( Lagoi )
Bintan Resort Ferries (BRF) operates the most direct route from Singapore to the Bintan Resorts area in Lagoi.
If you are staying at resorts such as Club Med Bintan, Pantai Indah Lagoi Villa, The Sanchaya, Banyan Tree Bintan, or Four Points by Sheraton Bintan, this is usually the most convenient option.
The ferry arrives directly at Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT) Ferry Terminal, which is located close to most resorts in Bintan Resort area.
Many hotels also provide shuttle services from the terminal, making the transfer process quick and easy.
Compared to other ferry routes, BRF is generally the fastest and most tourist-focused service for travelers visiting Lagoi and nearby resort areas.
2. Majestic Fast Ferry & Sindo Ferry to Tanjung Pinang
Majestic Fast Ferry and Sindo Ferry operate routes from Singapore to Tanjung Pinang, the main city located in southern Bintan Island.
This route is often more affordable compared to the direct Lagoi ferry and can be a good choice for travelers staying in Tanjung Pinang, exploring Penyengat Island, or visiting the southern part of Bintan.
It is also a practical alternative when Bintan Resort Ferries tickets are fully booked, especially during weekends, public holidays, and long holiday periods when ferry demand is higher.

Things to Know Before Choosing Your Ferry Timing
- Morning departures are ideal if you want to maximize your time in Bintan, especially for day trips, beach activities, or early resort check-ins.
- Afternoon departures are better suited for travelers planning a more relaxed arrival, such as checking in before dinner or enjoying a quiet first evening at the resort.
- Weekend and holiday sailings can sell out quickly, especially during peak travel periods such as June school holidays, December holidays, Chinese New Year, and long weekends.
- For regular weekends, booking your ferry tickets at least two weeks in advance is generally recommended. During peak holiday seasons, earlier booking is strongly advised.
Majestic Fast Ferry and Sindo Ferry, which sail the Tanah Merah–Tanjung Pinang route, run on a lighter schedule, two sailings per day, each:

Ferry Terminals: Where You Depart and Arrive
Every Bintan-bound ferry starts and ends at a specific terminal, and which one you’re using changes how the rest of your trip flows.
Here’s a breakdown of the three terminals you’ll encounter, depending on your operator and route.
Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (Singapore)
Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT) is where every Bintan-bound ferry departs, regardless of operator.
It’s about 15–20 minutes from Changi Airport by taxi, and reachable by MRT (East-West Line to Tanah Merah, then a short bus ride).
Arrive at least 90 minutes before departure, the terminal also serves ferries to other destinations, so it gets busy, especially on weekend.
Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT) Ferry Terminal
Bandar Bentan Telani (BBT) is the arrival port for the direct BRF route and the one nearly every resort guest uses.
It’s well organised, and most Lagoi-area resorts run a free shuttle counter right in the arrival hall, making it the most convenient entry point if you’re headed to the resort area.
Tanjung Pinang Ferry Terminal (Sri Bintan Pura Port)
Tanjung Pinang (Sri Bintan Pura) is the arrival port for Majestic and Sindo sailings.
It’s Bintan’s city centre, useful if you’re exploring locally, but expect a longer road transfer (roughly 1–1.5 hours) if your hotel is up in the Lagoi resort area.
How to Book Ferry Tickets to Bintan Island
- Decide your route first, BBT (Bintan Resorts) or Tanjung Pinang, based on where you’re staying.
- Check your passport validity. It must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date into Indonesia; this is strictly enforced at check-in.
- Book online through the operator’s official site (Bintan Resort Ferries, Majestic Fast Ferry, or Sindo Ferry), or through a licensed travel agent like Bintan Travel Guide (BTG) offering a ferry + hotel package — book at least 1–3 weeks ahead for weekends, further out for peak holidays.
- Enter passenger details exactly as they appear on each passport ( please make sure provide your passport first before booking online )
- Complete the Indonesian arrival/customs declaration online before travel, travelers sometimes also call this the “Bintan Arrival Card“, you’ll get a QR code, save a screenshot.
- Check Bintan visa on arrival requirements. Singapore passport holders travel visa-free for tourism (up to 30 days). Most other nationalities need an e-VOA or visa arranged in advance.
- Arrive at Tanah Merah at least 90 minutes early, collect your boarding pass at the counter even with a digital confirmation, and check in luggage before immigration.
Ferry, Hotel and Return Land Transfer Package
If you’d rather not manage the ferry, transfer, and hotel as three separate bookings, we put them together as one package,
return ferry ticket, land transfer, and your stay, coordinated so your ferry timing actually matches your check-in and activity plans.
This is worth considering if you’re travelling with family, on a short 2D1N or 3D2N trip, or just don’t want to be juggling three different booking confirmations before a weekend away.
BTG offers a curated selection of hotels for this package, not every hotel in Bintan is listed.
That said, if you’re travelling as a group, we can usually still arrange your stay even at a hotel outside our standard list.
Hotels we arrange most often include:
- Four Points by Sheraton Bintan
- Club Med Bintan
- Pantai Indah Lagoi Villa
- Grand Lagoi Hotel
- Dolpus Phos Ship
