500 Lohan Temple : Vihara Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva
The 500 Lohan Temple, also known as the Vihara Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva temple, is located in the Tanjungpinang city area ( South of Bintan )
As you arrive, a magnificent statue with beautiful architecture welcomes you. Inside the temple, there’s a fortress-like structure that looks like a pagoda.
At the top and to the left, you’ll see detailed reliefs telling the story of Buddha’s journey to Welas Asih, the highest Mahayana level.
What makes this place special is the 500 Lohan statues, each with its own unique facial features, and rows of statues representing different Buddhist deities.
