Bintan to Batam: How to Travel Between the Islands

Bintan and Batam are part of Indonesia’s Riau Islands province, but they are located on different islands. Travel between the two islands is easy and accessible. There are two main routes available, depending on your location in Bintan.

Below is a simple guide to help you travel from Bintan to Batam smoothly.

Via Tanjung Uban (Bulang Linggi Port)

Speed Boat from Batam to Bintan

This option is suitable for travelers staying in the Bintan Resorts area or in North Bintan. Departures are from Bulang Linggi Port in Tanjung Uban. From the Bintan Resorts area, the drive to the port takes around 35 to 45 minutes.

The speedboat journey from Tanjung Uban to Batam takes approximately 15 minutes. Boats operate daily from 07:00 to 17:00, with departures every 30 minutes and additional services during peak season. Tickets are purchased at the counter and payment is accepted in cash (Indonesian Rupiah).

Arrival in Batam is at Telaga Punggur Ferry Terminal. This route is ideal for travelers who want a quick and direct connection to Batam.

Via Tanjung Pinang (Sri Bintan Pura Port)

Ferry from Batam to Tanjungpinang

Travelers staying in East or South Bintan can depart from Sri Bintan Pura Port in Tanjung Pinang. The port is located in the city center and is one of the island’s main transport hubs. It also serves international ferry routes, including services from Singapore.

The ferry ride from Tanjung Pinang to Batam takes about 60 minutes. Ferries operate daily from 07:30 to 17:00, with departures approximately every 30 minutes. Tickets are available at the counter and must be paid in cash (Indonesian Rupiah).
